Adderall is a prescription drug that contains a combination of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine. It is a stimulant drug and controlled substance that is used to treat ADHD and narcolepsy in children and adults. Taking Adderall can increase one concentration, focus and attention span.
How To Take Adderall
Adderall dosages can vary depending on age and diagnosis. It is recommended to avoid drinking fruit juice or taking vitamin C at the same time you take Adderall. You should always take prescription medications as directed by your doctor. Do not stop taking this drug, unless directed by a doctor, or you may experience withdrawal symptoms.
*For children with ADHD ages three to five, the first dose should start with 2.5 mg per day, then gradually be increased by 2.5 mg weekly.
*For childer age six and older with ADHD, the first dose should start with 5 mg once or twice a day and be increased by 5 mg weekly. If being treated for narcolepsy, it is recommended for age six to twelve to start with 5 mg daily and increase by 5 mg weekly. Age twelve and older with narcolepsy should start with a daily dose of 10 mg daily and increase by 10 mg weekly.
*Adderall is not recommended for use in children with narcolepsy under the age of twelve.
*If being treated for narcolepsy, it is recommended for age six to twelve to start with 5 mg daily and increase by 5 mg weekly. Age twelve and older with narcolepsy should start with a daily dose of 10 mg daily and increase by 10 mg weekly.
